The global MBA rankings by The Economist and the Financial Times are evidence that the Yonsei MBA is the best in the nation. In the list of ¡°Top Full Time MBA Programs 2014¡± in The Economist, the Yonsei Global MBA was the only MBA in Korea ranked in the top 100. Shortly afterward, the Financial Times ranked the part-time Corporate MBA 56th in the world. The full-time and part-time MBAs have had consecutive rankings for four years and five years, respectively. The listings have gained the Yonsei University MBA program considerable worldwide attention because it was the only university whose full- and part-time MBA programs were both listed in respected world rankings this year.
The strength of Yonsei University¡¯s alumni network again was on display in the Global MBA¡¯s detailed assessment results in which the breadth of the alumni ranked fifth, the potential to network ranked 28th, and the internationalism of alumni ranked 48th.
The Financial Times¡¯ rankings generally evaluated programs designed for CEOs and high-level executives. Because graduates¡¯ starting salaries and the rate of salary increases were major components of the evaluation (20 percent each), the Yonsei part-time Corporate MBA was at a disadvantage. Its enrollment generally consists of middle managers whose staring salaries and rates of salary increase are not as high as executives¡¯ and CEOs¡¯ in those categories. The fact that the Yonsei program nevertheless ranked 56th attracted considerable attention.
The Yonsei University MBA celebrating its fiftieth anniversary in 2015 will write a new chapter in Korea¡¯s business education. Its goal is to be in the world¡¯s top 30 programs by 2020.
