Future Asian Business Leadership: CKJ(China, Korea & Japan) Asia Business Field Study
(Credit: 3 credits, Enrollment limit: Max 12 students)
We are pleased to announce the launch of the "Future Asian Business Leadership: CKJ (China, Korea & Japan) Asia Business Field Study" program and invite all interested students to participate.
The objective of this course is to foster a comprehensive understanding of the cultures, business environments, industries, and companies in Korea, China, and Japan. Students from three renowned schools—Yonsei University (Korea), Tsinghua University (China), and Keio University (Japan)—will collaborate in multinational teams to explore various global management issues. The program includes company visits, providing students with the opportunities to engage in face-to-face interactions, conduct research on real-world management challenges, and develop a business case report. In addition, this course offers a unique platform for building a professional network among future business leaders from Korea, China, and Japan.
Course Dates: July 13(Sat.) ~ July 20(Sat.) hosted by Keio Business School
Course Objectives
- To have MBA students from Korea, China and Japan discuss and interact for a comparative analysis of specific industries within their respective countries.
- A representative theme from one of the three countries will be chosen, and a field study will be conducted by visiting major players relevant to the theme. This year’s program theme is “Family Business in Japan.”
- To discuss and deeply apprehend the vital issues and growth opportunities of the firms each group has visited within the field study.
- To investigate the key factors and formulated strategies of for success in Asian and Global markets.
Course Procedure & Additional Issues
- Selected students from each school will form multinational teams to work on the term project of their common interest.
- Preliminary meetings will be held via the video conferencing system or the Internet.
- Face-to-face meetings and company visits for one week will be conducted by a host school.
- The host school will provide local expenses including accommodation, some of the meals, and local transportation.
- The final outcome of the course for each team will be a case report for one specific company visited.
- There will be an online portal for the course with proper folders on the Internet (e.g., Facebook) and students are supposed to post reports and presentations on the folders in due time.
Term Project
- The term project is to write a project report for a specific company.
- Companies or organizations will be assigned to each team.
- The focus of the case or policy report will be on the global strategy, with a particular emphasis on analyses and suggestions for the globalization of a specific company. This may include comparisons with the other companies in CKJ (China, Korea & Japan) countries.
Grading
- Participation: 50%
- Team Project Presentation & Final Report 50%
Expenses
- The host school will provide the local expenses including accommodation, some of the meals and local transportation.
- Each student is required to pay for their own air travel expenses and some of the meals.
Applicant’s Eligibility
- Corporate MBA, Finance MBA, Executive MBA, Global MBA, Advanced MBA students who have sufficient English proficiency to take university-level courses in English.
Application Procedure
- Max enrollment limit: 12 students
- Applicants must fill out the attached application form and email a scanned copy of the application form and a scanned copy of the passport at cfmba.ysb@yonsei.ac.kr by 24:00, June 18th.
- The participant selection results will be announced on June 20th.
Important Notes
- Participants of the program will receive a certificate of completion signed by the Dean of the Graduate School of Business Administration.
- If a visa is required for entry into Japan, participants are responsible for their own visa processing. However, Keio University will provide an invitation letter needed for the visa application.
- This course is not included in the summer semester maximum course limit, C/F MBA: 3 credits, GMBA: 6 credits.
- Statement of purpose is the most important element in the selection screening.
- Participants cannot take Module 2 course due to the overlap between the summer semester Module 2 and the program period.
