Intern (Division of Country Programming)

Location: Incheon, South Korea (ICN), KR

Duration: Full time for 6 months

Starting date: 17 January 2022

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, applicants currently located in the duty station (South Korea) are only eligible to apply. Nevertheless, GCF still aims to attract candidates from diverse backgrounds and nationalities.

Internship Assignment

The Intern will provide operational and administrative support to the Division of Country Programming (DCP). S/he will have the opportunity to learn and expand her/his experiences by providing assistance in the area of GCF country programming. The Intern will work closely with GCF’s Regional Managers, as well as other members of the Division of Country Programming.

Under the overall guidance of the Regional Manager, Asia-Pacific, and within the Division of Country Programming, the Intern is expected to:

  • Support any updates to the standard operating procedures on the Country Program and Entity Review Process, and provision of training of these procedures across the Programming team Regional Desks and GCF’s Climate Investment Committee reviewers
  • Support Regional Desks in the first level review of individual CPs and EWPs.
  • Support the Regional Desks in the gathering and analysis of additional country data, as required.
  • Support the preparation of relevant documentation for CIC1 CP and EWP reviews (preparation of relevant power points, memos)
  • Develop at least one knowledge management produce, highlighting some of the lessons learned and best practices, from the preparation of Country Programmes
  • Track the status of Country Proposal Development – both across the global portfolio and assisting Regional Managers to track the progress of CPs/EWPs towards key milestones in individual countries and Entities
  • Develop written briefs, as requested, in preparation of key country and entity engagements including regional programming events
  • Conduct analytical work, on the status of the GCF Project pipeline, as required.
  • Support the tracking of the Division of Country Programmes KPIs, with a specific focus on those relating to programming and project origination.

Requirements and qualifications

  • Enrolled in or recently graduated Master’s program in any field related to development, climate change, economics, or related fields;
  • Knowledge and experience with developing country governments.
  • Good understanding and experience in operations of international organization is an added advantage;
  • Proficiency in using standard software programs: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access;
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills;
  • Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of another United Nations language, in particular French and Spanish; Arabic and/or Portuguese is an advantage.
