Internship Advocacy Unit

The advocacy unit at Kvinna till Kvinna is looking for an intern for the Spring semester 2022.

The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation has defended women’s rights since 1993. For every woman’s right to be safe and to be heard. Today we are one of the world’s leading women’s rights organisations, working directly in areas affected by war and conflict to strengthen women’s influence and power. We work closely together with over 150 local partner organisations across 20 countries to end violence against women, reach lasting peace and close the gender gap once and for all. The future is equal. And together, we are change.

The advocacy unit develop global positions and recommendations based on research and evidence from our programme countries. Our work focuses on women’s participation in peacebuilding and women’s rights in conflict and post-conflict settings. Our thematic areas are Women, Peace and Security, Equal Economic Rights, the Shrinking Space for Women Human Rights Defenders, Gender Based Violence in Conflict and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights in Conflict. The internship is intended to make a practical contribution to the work of the organisation through fulfilling identified duties and responsibilities, and to offer a learning opportunity for the you as an intern.

In this case, the opportunities to learn will focus around:

  • Women, Peace and Security
  • Gender Based Violence in conflict
  • Political commitments to women’s rights in the the Swedish general election

Core tasks will include:

  • Assisting with the analysis of political parties and their policies for gender equality
  • Assisting with the production of publications and policy papers in English and Swedish
  • Assisting with general administrational tasks and logistics, including organisation of events, meetings, workshops, notetaking etc.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Political Science, Global Development studies, Peace and Conflict Studies or Human Rights.
  • University points in Gender Studies, or in other ways demonstrated knowledge and interest in Gender Equality and Women’s Rights.
  • Solid analytical skills, writing skills and research skills
  • Fluent in English and Swedish
  • Experience from volunteer work or internships with civil society, and previous contact with or good knowledge of stakeholders such as, the EU, UN or Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During your time with us you will get the opportunity to work independently as well as in a team. You will deepen your knowledge of international development work, women's role for democracy and peace, planning and follow-up advocacy and communication work. You will also be able to participate in both internal and external workshops, seminars and network meetings that may be of interest.

The internship is unpaid and covers full-time (37,5 hrs/week) for approx. 20 weeks starting in late January 2022. Start and end date are negotiable.

Due to the nature of our work only women are welcome as interns, either self-identified or legal. Otherwise, we strive for diversity.
