Job Description: Project Engineer – Korea (work with Project Managers, CIGs)

Bloom Energy, a fuel cell company and one of Silicon Valley’s most promising startups, is looking for a Project Engineer to join its world class team.  This individual should be a dynamic professional who is looking for a rewarding future in one of today’s most exciting technologies.  This position is based in South Korea.

 

The Project Engineer primarily will work with Program Manager and Senior Project Engineer responsible for overseeing project completions from initial pre-construction stages to commercial operation stages in multiple projects in Korea.  The Project Engineer must have a strong understanding of a broad set of engineering and construction solutions and have the ability to manage the internal and external project development process and schedules.

 

Job responsibilities include supporting/handling project management, site supervisions with HQ teams; interface with local government officials and utilities; managing field service personnel; and managing customer relationships. Knowledge of construction, electrical, mechanical, and electro-chemical applications is essential.

Role and Responsibilities:

·        Partner with US HQ team to execute Korea focused programs and projects including maintaining awareness of US design and development activities

·        Support the development of the Korea program delivery strategy and assist Korea in-country team members in support of key deployments

·        Support Project and business operations budget and site construction/installation schedule creation and execution

·        Construction, installation, and project close-out documentation completion to meet all technical and governmental standards

·        Coordinate and manage construction/installation of Bloom Energy’s system with EPC’s responsible team as a site superintendent

  • On-site supervision of Bloom’s system
  • Support logistic & material of BE providing system and parts
  • Check installation/interconnection quality for completing Construction Quality Guarantee(CQG) documentation

o   Supporting technical advisory service to EPC contractor, working closely with US engineering team.

·        Regulatory outreach and permit requirement acquisition and documentation

·        Regularly interface with internal Bloom Energy cross functional resources both in US and Korea.

·        Contribute to the success of Bloom Energy’s long-term process improvement efforts

·        Ensure exemplary safety and performance through specific metrics during site construction and commissioning

·        Ensure that Bloom Energy customers are 100% satisfied with the product and their site energy solution installation experience

·        Frequent travel to project sites required in Korea

 

Skills and Experience:

•       Engineering degree in relevant discipline.

•       B.S. Engineering: Chemical, Electrical, Control & Measurement and/or Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred, though other technical degrees (Construction Management, Electrical, Architecture, etc.) will be considered.

•       Experience working in Korea as well as abroad

•       Less than 10 years relevant experience in power generation, chemical/petro-chemical plant, or fuel cell applications.

•       Extremely professional in terms of appearance, phone manner, and group presentation skills.

•       Experience working on a construction site as a site engineer a plus.

•       Project engineer experience in South Korea in power generation, chemical plant’s construction, renewable energy applications or fuel cell applications a plus

•       Project management experience should include management of budgets, schedules, design contracts, and construction contracts

•       Fluent in Korean with Advanced English language capabilities

•       3+ years of project management experience including 2+ years of power generation and/or chemical industry experience strongly preferred. Candidate experience must include management of multiple, schedule constraints, large capital projects with multiple contractors

•       Experience producing results with gas and electrical utilities and leading local permitting efforts is strongly preferred

•       Familiarity with building/mechanical/electrical safety codes in Korea highly favorable: KESCO and KOSHA regulations a plus

•       Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional teams of subject matter experts strongly preferred

•       Advanced experience of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and Hangul is strongly preferred
