Yann Le Bourdon, CEO of L’Oreal Korea, gave YSB students insights in October into the operations of the high-end international and Korean cosmetic markets as the special lecturer at the ninth Global CEO Forum. Le Bourdon has worked at L’Oreal for 24 years as a high-end cosmetics expert in France, Germany, Korea, Spain, and Latin America. He returned to L’Oreal Korea as CEO in 2014 after leaving Korea six years ago.
Le Bourdon spoke briefly spoke about his experiences and spent most of his lecture time answering student’s questions. Asked about the special characteristics of the Korean cosmetic market, he mentioned how Korean women tend to use more varieties of cosmetics than women in other customers. He also referred to Samcheong-dong and Garosu-gil as reflecting changes in the Korean market in which shopping trends have moved from department stores to road shops and the market created by the massive influx of Chinese tourists.
Before the forum, Jieun Shin, Director of L’Oreal Korea, shared valuable information with students who want to begin their careers at L’Oreal. The forum was followed by a recruitment fair for L’Oreal internships and management trainee positions.
