YSB Professor Seongmoon Kim of Management Science has won the 2019 Yonsei University Excellence Professor Award (Education Division) presented by President Seoung Hwan Suh.
Yonsei University selects and recognizes the top 0.5 percent of its 2,100 full-time faculty members every year based on the results of their lecture evaluations. Selection is based on an evaluation of all subjects taught annually by each professor in different categories and based on whether they use relative or absolute evaluations in the classes. The difference between subjects is assessed by obtaining a trend line according to the number of participants.

“In the last five years, management science, statistics, and mathematics professionals have never been out of the top five of the annual best business jobs published by U.S. News & World Report. Even within the world's leading companies such as Google, Facebook, Apple, Amazon, and Microsoft, there is a growing demand for professionals who can extract key decisional information from a plethora of data, optimize it, and connect it to the business. Domestic large corporations are also following the global trend by establishing Big Data centers. And college students' job preferences for companies have been changing recently. I will endeavor to provide a more fruitful curriculum together with professors of Management Science in the future," he added.
Professor Kim joined in 2005 and has been awarded the Outstanding Teaching Professor Award 12 times from the Academic Affairs Department and YSB.
