Position Overview
The following Associate Director role seeks to develop new business opportunities, direct consulting and grant-funded projects from our new Singapore office, providing high value to BSR members and other leading companies that are interested in improving their sustainability performance.
- Member Services: Associate Directors manage key member relationships and provide member support to drive recruitment and retention for the Singapore office. Associate Directors may be required to provide services to companies outside of their region depending on business needs.
- Project Direction: Associate Directors transition from project management to project direction. In the Project Director role, they deliver consulting services to members or funders in Singapore as well as elsewhere, depending on business needs, r—often directing several projects simultaneously. Lead project teams to effectively achieve project objectives, outcomes, and impacts; establish the standards by which the project will be guided, including managing senior team members; and support team members’ learning and skills development.
- Thought Leadership and External Representation: Associate Directors represent BSR to external audiences by presenting at conferences, writing publications, forming external partnerships, and creating other opportunities to raise BSR’s profile more broadly within Singapore and in the Asian region.
- Business Development: Associate Directors build deep relationships with senior executives and business leaders within BSR’s member base, and they develop new business opportunities from Singapore across the portfolio. Associate Directors may have additional responsibilities to develop business with private foundations, public-sector funders, and other partners.
- Cluster Leadership: Associate Directors contribute to the management of the Singapore office by working closely with leadership, facilitating meetings, and leading talent reviews where appropriate.
At BSR we have implemented a transparent total compensation framework with an emphasis on internal equity. In order to maintain our equity our hiring rate will be $112,088 – $130,000 (SG$) plus an 8% target bonus for this position.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree with 7-10 years of experience or equivalent education and experience.
- Significant business experience in Singapore including the private sector or other relevant institutions required, including the ability to generate Singapore specific business opportunities, to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines, and to deliver for internal or external clients from Singapore.
- Significant business / industry experience required sets in the financial services, consumers sector, tech, agriculture (or other BSR industry clusters) focusing on ESG (environmental, social and governance) integration is preferred.
- Strong experience within the Southeast Asian and ASEAN business context highly valued.
- A proven track record in developing financial support from local Singapore businesses.
- Recognized local leader with direct sustainability experience, thought leadership and relevant external representation with the private sector, public authorities and key local stakeholders
- Private foundations, and other funders to enable project implementation is highly valued.
- Proven leadership skills, including a demonstrated ability to mentor other team members.
- Collaborative mindset and the intellectual agility to work with companies in various industries.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
- Strong organizational skills and analytical skills. Exceptional communications and interpersonal skills.
- High degree of fluency in English, with fluency in a second language a plus.
- Self-motivated with a capacity to work and thrive in a growing, fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to undertake up to 15% business travel post COVID-19.
