This remote work position is suitable for any location within Asia Pacific. 

We are seeking an experienced and talented editor and communications specialist for the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA). This person will support the Asia-based research team by providing high-quality editorial support and communications outreach to ensure that IEEFA’s work is impactful in the energy transition to a zero-emissions future.

The successful applicant will use their editorial expertise to ensure high-quality, accurate and timely content by our team of energy finance analysts. Previous experience working in the media and within the financial/energy industries or for an energy or research organisation is favourable.

About IEEFA

IEEFA is an NGO/non-profit think tank that produces a significant volume of original independent public interest research and analysis on issues related to finance and energy markets, trends and policies. Headquartered in the United States, IEEFA has staff located across the globe with a significant portion in the greater Asia-Pacific region. 

Our dynamic team in Asia works across different research areas including coal, gas/LNG, renewables, energy finance, government power development policies, and global bonds markets. 

Roles and Responsibilities

In all activities you will be able to respond in a timely, proactive and accurate manner. You will have exceptional attention to detail and a drive to support the analysts, to deliver quality content within deadlines. A proactive approach and ‘can do’ attitude is vital to help increase the impact and timeliness of our work.

Editing Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the quality, structure, and accurate formatting (including research annotations) of IEEFA content
  • Editing reports, briefing notes, commentaries, fact sheets, letters, op-eds
  • Writing press releases and commentaries as required
  • Preparing these materials for publication and distribution

Communications and Outreach Responsibilities

  • Building the profile of IEEFA and our work by proactively engaging with media and journalists in the region
  • Preparing communications strategies and plans for every publication launch and proactively placing IEEFA content in the media and digital ecosystem
  • Creating and publishing content for IEEFA’s social media channels
  • Creating and publishing content for IEEFA’s website
  • Collaborating with analysts to build stakeholder lists and building relationships and opportunities for engagement around IEEFA’s research
  • Working collaboratively with partnership organizations on communications and campaign strategies
  • Proactively seeking opportunities for IEEFA analysts to present on the energy transition at energy, finance, academic and government conferences, and forums
  • Horizon scanning for energy and finance news – downloading, reading, and circulating press articles, investor presentations, industry reports on global energy markets, coal, oil and gas/LNG, renewable energy, alternative energy technologies and energy efficiency
  • Interacting with other IEEFA team members globally, collaborating on projects, and where feasible, promoting each other’s work, as well as sharing relevant information and resources

Skills and Attributes

  • Five or more years of current affairs or business/economic journalism and publishing/editing experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Journalism or a related field
  • Knowledge of Asia’s media landscape and network (preferable but not required)
  • Fluency in an Asian language (preferable but not required)
  • The ability to interpret complex financial and energy developments quickly and make them understandable to a broad audience
  • High-quality editing and writing skills with a knack for developing cohesive narratives and key messaging
  • Organised and can manage time and priorities effectively across competing demands

Package by Negotiation: Full-time, initial 12-month contract with the option of extension by mutual agreement. Remuneration based on experience.

Work Location & Travel: This is a remote position for candidates located in Asia Pacific.   Some travel may be required (when it becomes possible).
