Amazon Data Center Operations team deploys and maintains the servers and infrastructure in our data centers. Amazon uses large-scale, high-density data centers and we support our customers 24x7 all year.

We are looking for candidates to commit to 6-week (fulltime) contracts and we are committed to provide coaching and periodic assessments to help develop your skills. If successful after the 6-week period you have an opportunity to be interviewed to join the Amazon family full time. 

Key job responsibilities

You will be exposed to the world’s largest cloud computing infrastructure. The role involves some periods working remotely and independently from your team and requires the ability to drive change while maintaining excellent communication. The Decommissioning Technician is responsible for processing and facilitating large scale legacy Data Center equipment through a liquidation process to ensure that targeted equipment is ready to be removed off premises. Team members will also process large volumes of customer data to ensure that all customer data is sanitized and properly managed.

Core Responsibilities

· Decommissioning and processing of legacy hardware out of the data center facilities.

· Relocating and moving of large enterprise equipment.

· Hard drive installation, removal and destruction.

· Creating/attaching labels and barcodes.

· Basic Networking removal/installation and clearing of configurations.

· Updating progress through a web ticketing system.

· Documenting procedures.

· Escalating to senior technicians and management as needed/required.

· HDD/SSD/Flash/Removable storage media.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Domestic/foreign Associate degree OR Bachelor degree (Applicants are expected to be graduates, to graduate in Feb, 2022 or those having less than 1 years of IT-related experience).

· Basic knowledge of computer hardware systems.

· Able to follow a well-defined technical standard operational procedure (SOP).

· Written & verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Previous experience working on IT equipment (cable management, building computers, troubleshooting PC/Desktops/Laptops).

· Understanding of IT service management.

· Understanding of Data Center environment safety and security.

· IT certifications.
